Hydrogen Fuel Cell
Completion 99%

During his time in Belize he worked on perfecting a hydrogen fuel cell for his Land Rover. By the end he could drive a whopping 200 miles to the gallon!

On the right you can see a prototype of the cell from up close with its different compartments. In general, a hydrogen fuel cell works by splitting hydrogen and oxygen through a process called electrolysis. The hydrogen is then mixed into the combustion chamber. Sometimes this is done through the air intake, sometimes it is done right before the fuel injector, and sometimes it is introduced directly into the cylinder head. However, while creating this website, there is unfortunately no one who fully understands the exact workings of his cell and its different compartments.

If there is anyone who has worked on this together with Julio and knows more about his invention, we would greatly appreciate an explanation to add here!
